Certificate Course in Introduction to Organization Development

Course Description:

This program is aimed at developing entry-level OD practitioners or specialists assigned to managing change projects without prior training on OD. 

Course Objectives:

As a result of the certificate course, the participants would be able to:

  1. Explain the nature, core theories, and process of Organization Development.
  2. Describe the roles and competencies of an Od practitioner and reflect on how these can be applied in their own work. 
  3. Apply the OD process, frameworks, tools, diagnostic approaches, and methods.
  4. Differentiate OD Interventions, identify their appropriate use, and evaluate their applicability
  5. Create an OD and Change Management Plan for their own organizations

Course Outline:

Module 1: OD Overview

  • In this introductory module, the participants will discuss the definition of Organization Development, Implicit beliefs and assumptions in OD, as well as Ethics in OD. Participants will also discuss the paradigms, roles, and competencies of an OD practitioner. To end the module, participants will go through the OD Cycle and discuss the 5 Pillars for Successful OD Programs.

Module 2: OD Cycle: Entry and Contracting

  • Objectives and principles in entry and contracting including a discussion on Understanding Organization’s Context and Environment is included in this module.

Module 3 OD Cycle: Diagnosis

  • In this module, participants would discuss the dialogic and diagnostic approach to action research. Participants will also discuss and use different Analytic Tools including Force Field Analysis.

Module 4:  OD Cycle: Interventions

  • Participants will go through an overview of OD Interventions including the different levels of intervention such as Individual Level, Team Level, and Organizational Level interventions. Participants will also learn the Strategic and Human Resource Management interventions.

Module 5: OD Cycle: Evaluation

  • The last module will equip the participants in creating a change management plan through discussions on managing and evaluating change including stakeholder analysis.

Presentation: OD and Change Management Plan

  • Participants will present their OD and Change Management Plan using their own change cases.
