Short Course in Mental Health Strategy and Policy Formulation in Organizations (Formerly CARES 2.0)

Course Description:

The course aims to guide organizations in their initial formulation of well-being policies and programs following the CARES 2.0 framework

Course Objectives:

By the end of these four two-hour day  workshop sessions, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the biopsychosocial factors that impact well-being and mental health
  2. Apply the CARES 2.0 framework in identifying employee needs and organizational resources that can guide policy/strategy formulation
  3. Create initial strategies and policies for workplace well-being
  4. Develop an evaluation plan for organization initiatives for workplace well-being 

Topics Outline:

  1. Understanding mental health and well-being (including challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic)
  2. CARES 2.0 Framework
    1. Diagnosing the state of mental health and well-being in the organization
    2. Identifying resources
    3. Communicating and building capabilities for support
    4. Evaluating and strengthening initiatives

Synchronous Session Schedule:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday; 8:30 AM – 12:00 NN or 1:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Target Participants:

  • HR/OD practitioners/leaders in-charge of organizational policies and strategies on mental health and well-being

Participant Requirements:

  • Participants shall sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement and Data Privacy Form

Technical requirements:

  • A computer installed with Zoom
  • Stable internet connection for live or synchronous sessions

Equivalency:

  • No. of learning hours for an online program: 15 Hours
  • Equivalent no. of days for the face-to-face program: 3 Days
